If there’s one thing that keeps the web industry exciting, it’s the fact that change is constant. New tools, new platforms, new opportunities—and sometimes, a whole new brand identity. Recently, I went through this process myself: transitioning Webcity.dev into its new home, Ontheweb.agency.

This post is about what it’s like to handle a rebrand as a solo entrepreneur—balancing technical steps, creative choices, and keeping the business alive in real time.

Why the Rebrand?

Webcity.dev served me well, but I wanted a brand name that reflected my core mission more clearly:
👉 Putting your business on the web—and ahead of the competition.

Ontheweb.agency feels sharper, more direct, and easier for clients to connect with.

The Entrepreneur’s Balancing Act

Rebranding alone means wearing every hat at once:

  • đź’» Technical engineer setting up redirects and Google Search Console.
  • 🎨 Designer updating colors, logo, and visuals.
  • ✍️ Content creator rewriting taglines and copy.
  • 📱 Marketer opening new social media accounts to keep the brand visible.

It’s a whirlwind—but one that forces clarity.

The Technical Side of Rebranding

Rebrands aren’t just cosmetic. Here’s what had to happen behind the scenes:

  • Domain redirects & SEO → Set up 301 redirects from webcity.dev to ontheweb.agency, updated Google Search Console, and kept my sitemap fresh so rankings follow.
  • Forms & automation → Rebuilt workflows in n8n to handle new contact forms and client leads without disruption.
  • Toolbox & Blog migration → My curated Toolbox (500+ tools) and blog now live under the new domain, with clean slugs and structure.
  • Consistency across platforms → From favicon to footer links, everything needed alignment.

Creative Rebranding Choices

A rebrand is also about visuals and language. I refreshed:

  • Logo & colors → More modern, clean, and consistent.
  • Catchphrases → Simplified around my mission: “On the Web, Where You Belong.”
  • Social presence → New Instagram and LinkedIn accounts so followers could find me under the new identity.

Lessons Learned in Quick Switching

  • Move fast but smart: delays hurt visibility, so I prioritized SEO + redirects first.
  • Keep the brand alive: announcing updates on socials helps reassure clients that the change is growth, not closure.
  • Own the narrative: if you don’t explain the transition, Google and your audience will guess—and they might guess wrong.

What’s Next?

Ontheweb.agency isn’t just a rebrand. It’s a stronger foundation for what I do best: turnkey web design, development, and hosting solutions. Plus, the Toolbox and Blog remain at the heart of my mission to share resources and ideas with developers, designers, and tech-curious minds.

So here’s to new beginnings, and to keeping the web alive, exciting, and ever-evolving. 🚀
